Opening Sequences - Introducing location/setting/era - introduction

Other than introducing characters, opening sequences often introduce the setting or location where the film's action will take place as well as establishing era (when the film is set).

I've chosen the opening sequence of three films to help me get a better understanding of how location, setting and era are introduced to audiences. The opening sequences I will look at are The Shining, Wonder Woman and American Hustle.
