Opening Sequence Analysis - 1 - Fight Club

The first opening sequence I am looking at is from David Fincher's Fight Club.



This opening sequence does the following:

• introduces the central protagonist though voiceover and close ups, establishing his character traits 
• sets up an enigma, creating mystery for the audience which encourages them to continue watching 
• establishes the style of the film which is unconventional and disorientating 
• introduces the plot
